Recently, Digital Health Canada volunteer Rajeev Chansingh shared some reflections on his experience volunteering at e-Health25 Conference and Tradeshow in Toronto.
I was fortunate enough to volunteer at the eHealth Conference last summer as part of my Digital Health Canada student membership. I was eager to volunteer as I knew it would be the perfect opportunity for me to not only meet and network with other digital health professionals, but also expose me to the ever growing innovations and initiatives happening all across our country in the digital health space. As this industry is growing by the day, the eHealth Conference is Canada’s leading digital health event bringing together professionals passionate and driven to innovating healthcare. I saw this as an invaluable opportunity to learn and grow from these industry leaders who are pioneering the space.
Volunteering at the eHealth Conference in some ways changed my life, not to sound dramatic. At the conference I had the opportunity to sit in on many insightful panel presentations, learn about various initiatives happening all over the country, and ultimately led to me connecting with OceanMD. After connecting and sharing my experiences and values with the OceanMD team, what began as a conversation turned into a meaningful opportunity to contribute to their mission.
The eHealth Conference is a hub for digital health and innovation, attracting professionals who are equally passionate about advancing healthcare. It reminded me that meaningful opportunities often begin with genuine conversations, and that being present, curious, and open to learning can lead to paths you never expected.
I am an aspiring digital health professional with a background in workflow design and go-live EMR integrations. Currently working as a Client Success Specialist at OceanMD, I graduated from the University of Ottawa Telfer School of Management with a Bachelors of Commerce in Healthcare Analytics. I later cemented my journey in to the world of digital health after completing the Digital Health Graduate Certificate Program from Algonquin College where I was fortunate enough to be apart of a Co-Op at The Ottawa Hospital redesigning EPIC Systems workflows for their providers.
Through my experience supporting the Cerner EMR go-live implementation at Perth and Smith Falls District Hospital, I developed a strong interest in supporting and advocating for our healthcare providers during periods of digital innovation. I am driven by the belief that well-supported providers are essential to ensuring the success of digital innovation projects and improving the health outcomes that these project can yield.
This perspective led me to OceanMD, where the organization’s focus on supporting and connecting providers aligns closely with my values and professional interests. I am grateful to be apart of a purpose-driven team working to improve the quality and continuity of care for patients all across Canada by empowering our providers.
Volunteering builds experience, contributes to your professional development and learning, and helps you expand your network.
