Setting the Winning Conditions for AI-Powered Healthcare

Digital Health Canada is pleased to publish a new report made possible by the members of the CHIEF Executive Forum Working Group Setting the Winning Conditions for AI-Powered Healthcare.

The members of the Working Group collaborated to develop a set of key governance and operational questions to be posed to eight leading healthcare organizations actively utilizing artificial intelligence (AI). The responses gleaned from these organizations—Fraser Health (Sheazin Premji, Executive Director, The Centre for Advanced Analytics, Data Science and Innovation), Hamilton Health Sciences (Jeremy Petch, Director, CREATE (CentRE for dAta science and digital hEalth)), The Hospital for Sick Children (Greg Kennedy, Chief Strategy Officer and Director of AI Service Operations, UHN (Sarah Muttitt, VP, Information Management and Technology and CIO), Unity Health Toronto (Muhammad Mamdani, Vice President – Data Science and Advanced Analytics), McGill University Health Centre (Alan John Forster, Vice President, Innovation, Quality, and Performance), Horizon Health (Jennifer Sheils, VP Strategy, Transformation & Chief Innovation Officer and Zach Kilburn, Chief Digital Officer), and Nova Scotia Health (Scott McKenna, Chief Information Officer)—were gathered in a report intended to serve as a resource for other healthcare institutions looking to establish the right conditions for the successful implementation of AI-driven solutions.

These interviews took place over several months late 2024 and early 2025. We congratulate the members of the CHIEF Executive Forum Working Group on the success of their efforts:
