26 January 2024 – FREDERICTON (GNB) – The Department of Health is making it easier for New Brunswickers to access their health records online by launching the MyHealthNB mobile phone app.
“Providing New Brunswickers with easier access to their health information empowers them to make informed decisions about their health care,” said Health Minister Bruce Fitch. “I am proud to see this initiative expanding both access and the information available to citizens, and I am grateful to the regional health authorities, the New Brunswick Medical Society, the New Brunswick College of Pharmacists, the New Brunswick Pharmacists’ Association, the Nurse Practitioners of New Brunswick, and Service New Brunswick, as well as VeroSource Solutions, Jackets Creative, Salesforce and Simeio Solutions for acting as our planning and vendor partners.”
People can already view personal health information, such as test results, immunization records, laboratory results, diagnostic imaging reports and dispensed medication data, through the MyHealthNB website.
The new app is available in the Apple or Google Play app stores.
It works on mobile phones running Apple operating system 14 and newer or Android operating system 11 or newer.
Initially launched in April 2020 to allow people access to their COVID-19 test results, MyHealthNB has gradually expanded the services offered to New Brunswickers.
To protect and secure personal information, access to MyHealth Records is only available to people whose identity has been verified in person. Originally, that process occurred when a person went for bloodwork at a regional health authority facility and asked for a registration code.
People who wish to access this program can now also visit their local Service New Brunswick branch to request a MyHealthNB registration code.
Expanding MyHealthNB is one of the goals listed in the provincial health plan.
More health information and links to health-related services are expected to be added to the website and the mobile app in the coming months.
“We are honoured to be able to provide New Brunswickers with secure access to their personal health information anytime, anywhere,” said Mark McAllister, CEO of New Brunswick-headquartered tech company VeroSource Solutions. “MyHealthNB modernizes how people interact with the health-care system, empowering them with the information needed to make informed decisions about their health.”
