Read MoreShelagh Maloney’s career has been defined by a passion for digital health and its transformative ability to improve the patient and provider experience. Prior to assuming the role of CEO, Digital Health Canada, Shelagh held national executive leadership roles in both the public and private sectors where she earned widespread recognition for her business development, relationship management, consensus-building, and communication skills.
A dedicated advocate for innovation and equity through digital health, Shelagh has shaped policy and practice through influential volunteer roles. She is currently Vice -Chair, Vision Loss Rehab Canada and has served as Vice Chair of SNOMED International, Board Chair of Digital Health Canada, and Board Director, Mississauga Halton Local Health Integration Network (LHIN). Shelagh holds a B.Sc . in Applied Health Sciences from the University of Waterloo and is a Certified Professional in Health Information & Management Systems (CPHIMS-CA).
In recognition of her contributions to the industry, Shelagh was an inaugural recipient of the Women Leaders in Digital Health in 2017 and was named a Digital Health Canada Fellow in 2023.

Read MoreDr. Julie McCarthy is a Full Professor in the Department of Management at the University of Toronto and is the Academic Director of Rotman’s High Potential Leadership Program. Julie’s research examines strategies that individuals can use to build resilience and achieve success in their work and home lives. She also investigates how organizations can ensure that their policies and practices are viewed favorably by job applicants and employees. Her work is published in leading academic journals, including The Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, and Psychological Science, and is generously supported by funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). In addition to receiving numerous awards and recognitions for her research contributions, Julie’s work has received a considerable amount of media attention.
In the corporate sector, Julie has developed training programs, performance management systems and personnel selection tools on behalf public and private corporations. Read MoreDr. Joseph Cafazzo is the inaugural Wolfond Chair in Digital Health, Executive Director of Biomedical Engineering and Senior Scientist, Centre for Global eHealth Innovation at the University Health Network, a state-of-the-art research facility hosting 80 staff and students devoted to the evaluation and design of healthcare technology.
Over his career, he has built a network of clinicians, designers, engineers, researchers, that challenge the norms of healthcare and to empower patients and their families. Together they push the boundaries of what’s possible, which has led to the creation of technologies that act to facilitate patient self-care of complex chronic conditions. He’s received the Stanford 2.0 Award and the People’s Choice Award at the World Congress of Health Innovation for his work in digital health for children with diabetes. His body of work has also recognized by the Canadian Health Informatics Association, with their Excellence in Telehealth Award and the Dr. Mo Watanabe Lecture.
Dr. Cafazzo is the Chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee in Digital Health for Health Canada, is a Professor at the University of Toronto, in the areas of clinical engineering, human factors, and health informatics and is the recipient of the Career Scientist award by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.

Dr. Mamdani’s team bridges advanced analytics including machine learning with clinical and management decision making to improve patient outcomes and hospital efficiency. Dr. Mamdani is also Professor in the Department of Medicine of the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, and the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation of the Dalla Lana School of Public Health. He is also an Affiliate Scientist at IC/ES and a Faculty Affiliate of the Vector Institute.
In 2024, Dr. Mamdani’s team received the national Solventum Health Care Innovation Team Award by the Canadian College of Health Leaders. Previously, Dr. Mamdani was named among Canada’s Top 40 under 40. He has published over 500 studies in peer-reviewed medical journals. Dr. Mamdani obtained a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) and completed a fellowship in pharmacoeconomics and outcomes research at the Detroit Medical Center. During his fellowship, Dr. Mamdani obtained a Master of Arts degree in Economics from Wayne State University with a concentration in econometric theory. Ted established HHS’ Innovation function with an emphasis on developing new care models empowering patients and providers while leveraging innovative technology to enable more accessible and equitable healthcare. This vision addresses the need for the healthcare industry to evolve the relationships between patients and healthcare providers using enabling digital technologies.
He was previously Chief Innovation Officer and Dean of Applied Research at Mohawk College, where he founded IDEAWORKS, a college-wide research and innovation program, and rolled out a college-wide blended learning initiative.
Ted is an expert digital health strategist and has a wealth of experience in industry relations and commercialization, as well as innovation policy. He returned to HHS where he started his career as a sonographer after working at The Hospital for Sick Children and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital. Ted is a lifelong learner who earned his Master of Applied Science in Medical Ultrasound and his Ph.D. in Diagnostic Imaging from Charles Sturt University of Australia.
