  Kathy Malas, Chief Research, Innovation and Learning Officer at CISSS Montérégie-Ouest, led the Innovation, Artificial Intelligence, and Projects in Health Hub at the Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM) from September 2018-2023, and the innovation Platform at CHU Sainte-Justine from 2014-2018. Kathy Malas is a leader who propels organizational transformations through innovation and knowledge as a source of value creation and tangible benefits for patients, teams and organizations. She cocreated the first two innovation and AI teams in Quebec amongst the first in Canada within a University Hospital Center. She encourages open innovation with partners from all horizons to better meet health needs. Graduated with a master's degree in speech language pathology from the University of Montreal and a graduate certificate in health management from McGill University, Kathy implemented an organizational strategy of innovation and responsible AI and she facilitates the sharing of knowledge and the development of skills in these areas. The teams she has lead received three innovation awards in Quebec and the CHUM ranked the smartest hospital in Canada in 2021 thanks to the responsible AI strategy. She is a researcher at the CRCHUM involved in research projects in health innovation management, is an adjunct professor at HEC Montréal and board member of the Health Innovation District and the Quebec Council of Innovation. She deploys concrete mechanisms to foster a culture, an organization and an open ecosystem of innovation to create value: improving health and wellness for all!

  Erin Cook is the Director of Quality, Transformation, Evaluation, Value, Ethics and virtual care of the Integrated Health and Social Services University Network of West-Central Montreal, Quebec.

  Erin received her Nursing Degree from Athabasca University, and her Masters in Nursing from the University of British Columbia, and has received multiple certifications in agile management, Value- Based care, and digital transformation.

  Erin Cook has been instrumental in the transformation towards value based care in the Integrated Health Network of the West-Central, Montreal. She developed integrated data approach to measuring value across the care continuum, integrating costs and outcomes, and supported the transition to integrated practice units.

  A nurse by profession, she has experience in hospital care, long-term care and cross-functional programs. Her experience in quality improvement, agile project management, and innovation initiatives has helped improve the patient experience through healthcare transformation. Erin co-led the rollout of the nationally recognized hospital at home program at the integrated health network for which she garnered support from Quebec Ministry of Health. She has also worked at the provincial level, to develop the Virtual Care program for the province. Her other responsibilities include supporting the organization in transformational change, care variability, and the operations of the command center which supports patient flow across the Health Network. She has received several National awards and recognitions for Value based Care, Health Care innovation and Virtual Care.

  Mr. Alain Larochelle is the Country Manager - Canada at Enovacom, an Orange Business company. An engineer by training, Mr. Larochelle’s focus remains in the health and information technology sectors.

  Alain’s leadership and ability to innovate resulted in the successful deployment of projects of all sizes. He has a unique capacity to sign win-win partnerships and to work closely with his clients and healthcare professionals. Among other things, Alain has contributed to the development and deployment of some innovations in the world of health, including the first provincial drug information system in Canada implemented in 2006 and sanctioned by Canada Health Infoway.

  More recently, in 2020 and in the midst of the pandemic, Alain worked with the CHUM (Montreal University Health Centre) to implement an innovative solution to significantly reduce the time spent by nurses in the Covid unit on non-valued tasks such as entering and transcribing vital patient data.

Plus récemment, depuis 2020 et en pleine pandémie, Alain a implanté des solutions innovantes dans des centres hospitaliers d’envergure mondiales entre autres au Centre hospitalier de l’université de Montréal (CHUM), SickKids (hôpital pédiatrique à Toronto), et l’institut de cardiologie de Montréal (ICM). Tous ces projets continuent d’apporter de nombreux bénéfices aux patients.
  Alain contribue à l'écosystème de la santé en mentorant des talents prometteurs. Il siège également sur le conseil d'administration de la Fondation de recherche en chirurgie thoracique de Montréal.   Sara Ahmed, PT, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, at McGill University, and a senior scientist at the RI-MUHC Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation and the Centre de recherche interdisciplinaire en réadaptation (CRIR). She leads a research program in person-centered digital health research and is the scientific director of the BRILLIANT learning health community project (https://www.brilliant-cfi.ca), part of a network of international Living Labs, and Open Science initiatives. Dr. Ahmed conducts research aimed at improving health outcomes for individuals with chronic diseases. Her research addresses the implementation of digital health solutions and patient-centered outcomes across trajectories of care to inform clinical and health system decision-making.   Danina Kapetanovic is the Chief Innovation Officer at the Integrated Health and Social Services University Network for West-Central Montreal (CIUSSS West-Central Montreal). The network, consisting of 34 facilities covering the entire continuum of care, provides timely and person-centric care to over 700,00 people annually. Within the CIUSSS and its hub, Jewish General Hospital, she conceptualised, founded and now heads the Connected Health Innovation Hub – OROT ( https://orot-jgh.org/ ).

  OROT has a mandate to guide the way to the new era of care – a future in which health will be created, managed, and restored wherever the patient is (strategy known as Care Everywhere). OROT identifies opportunities, inspires, and accelerates innovation in connected health by bringing together clinicians and end users with entrepreneurs and innovators in order to build and launch new technologies that improve people’s lives. Since its inception in 2020, the hub has co-developed and helped integrate dozens of solutions which have been instrumental in addressing some of the most pressing issues such as the access to care and human resources shortage.

  Before joining the CIUSSS West-Central Montreal, Ms. Kapetanovic served as Executive Director of Hacking Health, a global, grass-roots network of innovators committed to creating digital health solutions to benefit citizens, support healthcare systems, and promote economic activity. This network organized 160 hackathons in 63 cities around the world, leading to more than 1,500 innovative projects.

  Previous to that, Ms. Kapetanovic served with the United Nations for close to two decades where she held various leadership positions, spearheading innovation and public-private partnerships resulting in positive and impactful change across the globe. Among her proudest accomplishments is the creation of community care centers across Northern Iraq; development and roll out of a global food assistance strategy targeting pregnant and lactating mothers and children under two, and the establishment of public-private partnership which resulted in creation of specialised food products for treatment of acute and prevention of chronic malnutrition.

  Ms. Kapetanovic holds a M.Sc. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Hunter College of City University of New York, a B.A. Honours in Neurolinguistics from McGill University in Montreal, a certificate in Healthcare Innovation from Duke University and a certificate in Development of Entrepreneurship in Life Sciences and Healthcare Technology from Concordia University. She speaks five languages.
