Position: Project Director – Meditech Expanse Project (12-Month Contract)
Location: Brantford region, Ontario (Hybrid)
Reports to: Vice President Digital Health Transformation / CIO
Job Summary:
Our client, a leading healthcare organization in Southwestern Ontario, is seeking an experienced Project Director to lead the implementation of the Meditech Expanse Project on a 12-month contract. This senior leadership role is critical for overseeing the Project Management Office (PMO) and ensuring the successful delivery of the project. The Project Director will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and external partners such as Ontario Health and the Provincial Meditech Collaborative.
The successful candidate will bring a proven track record in large-scale healthcare information system projects, managing complex project governance, and delivering high-impact results within healthcare environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Governance & Strategic Planning (40%)
- Develop and implement the project governance framework in collaboration with senior leadership.
- Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and decision-making processes within the governance structure.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
- Align project strategy with organizational goals, adjusting as needed based on evolving circumstances.
- Facilitate discussions with governance bodies, such as the Digital Health Transformation Executive Steering Committee (DHTESC).
Impact of Effective Governance:
- Strategic Alignment: Ensures that the project supports organizational objectives.
- Stakeholder Confidence: Builds trust and accountability among all parties involved.
- Project Management Office (PMO) Oversight (30%)
- Plan, implement, and oversee the operations of the PMO, defining its structure, roles, and responsibilities.
- Recruit, train, and manage PMO staff, including project managers and support personnel.
- Ensure resources are allocated effectively across various project teams and deliverables.
Impact of Effective PMO Management:
- Operational Efficiency: Enhances project delivery through efficient PMO processes.
- Quality Assurance: Ensures high standards of project management are maintained.
- Budget & Financial Management (20%)
- Develop and manage the project’s budget, ensuring alignment with financial goals.
- Monitor expenditures, track variances, and report financial performance to leadership.
- Collaborate with the financial team to ensure compliance with organizational financial policies.

- Financial Discipline: Maintains control over budget, minimizing the risk of overruns.
- Transparency: Provides clear and accurate financial data to stakeholders.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Communication (10%)
- Develop and implement stakeholder engagement plans for internal and external communication.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including Meditech, Ontario Health, and the Provincial Meditech Collaborative.
- Facilitate stakeholder meetings to ensure alignment and gather feedback.

- Human Resource Management (10%)

Qualifications:
- Education:
- Undergraduate degree in Healthcare, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent project management experience required.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 15 years of project management experience, with at least 10 years in a senior leadership role.
- Extensive experience leading large-scale healthcare information system projects, particularly Meditech Expanse or similar platforms.
- Proven success in project governance, financial management, and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience collaborating with external entities such as Ontario Health and Provincial Meditech Collaborative.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership abilities with a focus on team management and cross-functional collaboration.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans, manage multiple priorities, and problem-solve.
- Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies, including budget and resource management.
Contract Details:
- Duration: 12 months
- Location: Brant region, Ontario (Hybrid)
- Working Arrangement: Mix of on-site and remote work as required.
