Unit Summary
As part of the Hamilton Health Sciences’ Digital Health Plan, the Hospital is embarking upon a new and exciting transformational journey with the introduction of an enterprise-wide Health Information System using the Epic HIS system. This HIS initiative and associated process redesign will play a significant foundational role as a catalyst for an improved patient care at HHS.
We are looking for top-talent to join the hospital’s Epic Project Team and be a part of this exciting Hospital Information System (HIS) implementation project. Position Summary
The Application Specialist – Cogito/Business Intelligence (BI) Developer’s primary role is to program and implement new BI solutions, reports, or implement changes to the data warehouse model, and designing enterprise-level solutions for medium to large databases. Additional responsibilities include: debugging, monitoring and troubleshooting BI solutions; creating and deploying reports; writing relational and multidimensional database queries; and creating, deploying and maintaining SQL jobs.
High Level Accountabilities include:
• Integrate new data sources, develop ETL processes and validate data.
• Code and implement proof-of-concept solutions, early proving of capabilities before they are made available for wider consumption.
• Technical and functional development of new reporting solutions.
• Execute unit and integrated system testing on programming changes to ensure viability and accuracy by creating test cases.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, debug, tune and optimize report performance.
• Ensures Business Intelligence environment is optimized to address business requirements by diagnosing and repairing user and performance issues, and testing, monitoring and tuning software.
Schedule Work Hours
Monday – Friday, 7.5 hours per day (flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required).
Qualifications
1. University degree or college diploma in Computer Science or related discipline
2. Minimum 3 years of experience in business intelligence and data warehousing application development in an IT or software development organization, healthcare application experience is preferred
3. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft SQL Server 2012, including Reporting Services, Analysis Services and Integration Services
4. Working knowledge of Visual Studio 2010/2012 (C# or VB.NET), ASP.NET
5. Advanced knowledge of relational databases, working experience with multidimensional databases
6. Good understanding of system environment of Windows Server 2003 and IIS, SAN, personal computers and web applications.
7. Demonstrated analytical skills

9. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and commitment to quality customer service
10. Ability to exercise independent judgment and take action on it, logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail
