To write the CPHIMS Exam

The CPHIMS portion of the exam is administered by HIMSS. To start, please complete the HIMSS online exam application form at the link below. Once your application has been reviewed, HIMSS will send you an email with further instructions on how and where to write the exam. Payment for the exam will be processed by HIMSS.

CPHIMS EXAM APPLICATION

To write the Canadian Supplemental (CA) Exam

The CA portion of the exam is administered by Digital Health Canada through Prolydian.

The CA exam is available online via remote proctoring. Prior to purchasing the CA Exam, all potential candidates must complete an eligibility check and receive confirmation that they have met the requirements for testing. The exam fee is non-refundable.

Eligibility

Make sure you meet the requirements from one of the categories below before registering for an exam:

  1. Writers require a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university plus five years of information and management systems experience (work experience in systems analysis; design; selection, implementation, support, and maintenance; testing and evaluation; privacy and security; information systems; clinical informatics; management engineering), including three years in a healthcare setting. Healthcare setting includes provider of health services or products to a healthcare facility (e.g. hospital); healthcare consulting firm; vendor; federal, provincial/ territorial or local government office; academic institution; payer; or public health organization. – OR –
  2. Writers require a graduate degree or higher from an accredited college or university plus three years of information and management systems experience (work experience in systems analysis; design; selection, implementation, support, and maintenance; testing and evaluation; privacy and security; information systems; clinical informatics; management engineering), including two years in a healthcare setting. Healthcare setting includes provider of health services or products to a healthcare facility (e.g. hospital); healthcare consulting firm; vendor; federal, provincial/ territorial or local government office; academic institution; payer; or public health organization. – OR –
  3. Writers require ten years of information and management systems experience (work experience in systems analysis; design; selection, implementation, support, and maintenance; testing and evaluation; privacy and security; information systems; clinical informatics; management engineering), including eight years in a healthcare setting. Healthcare setting includes provider of health services or products to a healthcare facility (e.g. hospital); healthcare consulting firm; vendor; federal, provincial/ territorial or local government office; academic institution; payer; or public health organization.
