Beatrise Edelstein is the Program Director, Seniors Care, Inpatient Medicine, Allied Health & Ambulatory Services. She is responsible for leading Humber River Hospital’s (HRH) corporate Seniors Care Strategy, and for the operational management of clinical programs including General Medicine, Acute Care for the Elderly, Acute Stroke, Inpatient Nephrology, Allied Health, and Ambulatory Clinics and Services. Mrs. Edelstein is a transformational leader with a strong track record for delivering innovative solutions for excellence in clinical practice and patient care. Mrs. Edelstein plays an instrumental role in introducing novel clinical and digital solutions to improve patient care, experience, and outcomes with a strong track record for impactful, sustainable implementations with a focus on health equity, that have scaled across the region. She pushes the envelope encouraging organizations and system partners to shift their thinking from core innovation to transformational innovation, introducing disruptive solutions that reimagine the way care is delivered. Mrs. Edelstein is a Registered Physiotherapist and holds a Master of Health Science in Health Administration from the University of Toronto. She has over 20 years of progressive leadership experience and has worked in the acute, post-acute and community sectors in a variety of positions including manager, senior consultant, and program director.
Mrs. Edelstein is an exceptional leader with a deep regard for patients, families, and caregivers. She leads with humility and compassion, and is frequently seen rounding with her teams, as well as mentoring and developing future leaders. Her extensive knowledge of the health care system across all sectors, strategic vision, rigorous evaluation, iterative approach, and drive to deliver transformational innovation has benefited both HRH and the health system. She is highly revered within the hospital and regionally, and requested at many tables to share her knowledge and expertise bridging clinical models of care, evaluation, digital solutions, and artificial intelligence. Mrs. Edelstein oversees over 450 staff and physicians and has fostered an atmosphere where leaders feel empowered and encouraged to explore innovative uses of digital technologies and advanced analytics, and lends her expertise to thoughtfully operationalize, evaluate, and sustain solutions in a meaningful manner.
Mrs. Edelstein consistently delivers innovative solutions year over year, all that have had a significant impact to the health system. In addition to the accomplishments listed, she was also the recipient of the 2019 Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC) Ingenious Awards for iPlan, as the clinical lead bridging clinical practice and technology, and scaling enhancements across multiple hospitals. She leads HRHs SCOPE Program to provide virtual services to primary care physicians, with frequent enhancements to the program to respond to the needs of primary care. She has also introduced many medical devices to support clinicians in delivering better care, and automated documentation in ambulatory care to streamline service provision. Ms. Edelstein continues to find new ways to leverage technology to improve patient care, patient experience, and provider experience, within a high reliability culture.
