Why is this role important?

The Senior Analyst organizes, plans and prepares analytical projects related to First Nations, Inuit and Métis data health priorities. This role involves preparing relevant documentation, assessing data quality, producing statistics, fulfilling custom data requests, conducting analysis and contributing to analytical reports. Participates in department/branch projects and initiatives, as well as other meetings and special projects as required.

What you’ll do

  1. Works with the Lead to manage CIHI data, ensuring it is fit for purpose, and to support the production of key deliverables for internal and external dissemination. Key deliverables include relevant documentation, data tables, custom data requests, and analytical reports related to First Nations, Inuit and Métis health priorities.
  2. Conducts data management activities including writing and updating statistical code required for the development, computation, analysis, and/or verification of key deliverables.
  3. Maintains detailed knowledge of data, tools, and analytical techniques used to produce standard and ad-hoc outputs.
  4. Scans, summarizes, and synthesizes research and policy literature for relevant Indigenous health information and/or to analyze data.
  5. Works closely with the Lead to plan analysis on First Nations, Inuit and Métis health priorities.
  6. Contributes to the development of materials (e.g., analytical reports, methodology or technical notes, presentations, educational, media, etc.) for dissemination of findings and knowledge translation, and reviews written products for analytic accuracy and quality.
  7. Provides professional and timely client support to respond to internal and external client queries as required.
  8. Ensures adherence to, and ability to demonstrate compliance with, CIHI’s privacy and security policies and procedures when using CIHI data and information.
  9. Maintains current knowledge of CIHI’s data holdings, trends in health services research and health policy, and stakeholder information needs to support current work and contribute to the development of new analytic proposals.
  10. Participates in other meetings and corporate project teams as required.
  11. Contributes to the evolution of CIHI’s approach to supporting First Nation, Inuit, and Métis health data priorities and respecting principles of Indigenous data sovereignty
  12. upports projects in collaboration with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis organizations and the development of reports and other products, such as website updates, materials for engagements/conferences/workshops, fact checking, and product testing (e.g., education and training products) for the team.
