Report: Pharmacy Practice and Digital Health

As highly accessible healthcare providers, pharmacists may soon find themselves taking on the role of digital health coach for patients requesting advice and recommendations about health-related mobile apps and internet-enabled monitoring devices. How should pharmacists educate themselves about these emerging technologies?

Given the vast numbers of apps available, it is beyond the capability of the individual to evaluate them. Pharmacists will require knowledge about health apps and devices, how to evaluate them, and where to look for credible resources when giving recommendations to patients.

Pharmacy Practice and Digital Health provides an overview of:

  • The current landscape of digital health as it pertains to pharmacy practice
  • Educational initiatives available to help pharmacists learn more about digital health
  • Current regulatory status of mobile health apps
  • Patients’ attitudes and any related benefits of using digital pharmacy tools and/or services
