May 27, 2019 – As highly accessible healthcare providers, pharmacists may soon find themselves taking on the role of digital health coach for patients requesting advice and recommendations about health-related mobile apps and internet-enabled monitoring devices. How should pharmacists educate themselves about these emerging technologies?
Given the vast numbers of apps available, it is beyond the capability of the individual to evaluate them. Pharmacists will require knowledge about health apps and devices, how to evaluate them, and where to look for credible resources when giving recommendations to patients.
