Nova Scotia Health Authority’s Keltie Jamieson and Gillian Sweeney, Newfoundland Centre for Health Information, named co-chairs of New Digital Health Canada Atlantic Chapter Advisory Committee

Digital Health Canada today announced the launch of a new chapter that will serve members from Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick. The establishment of the first regional chapter, to be known as the Atlantic Chapter, aligns with the association’s mission to connect, inspire, and educate the digital health professionals creating the future of health in Canada.

“We listen closely to our members’ needs and professional interests,” said Mark Casselman, CEO, Digital Health Canada. “The new Atlantic Chapter will serve and support our growing membership in the region free of time and travel restraints.”

Inaugural Co-chairs of the Atlantic Chapter Advisory Committee are Keltie Jamieson, Sr. Director & Chief Information Officer (CIO), Clinical Information Management & Technology, Nova Scotia Health Authority, and Gillian Sweeney, Vice President, eHealth Clinical Programs, Newfoundland Centre for Health Information, industry leaders known regionally and nationally for their work and contributions in the field of digital health and health informatics.

“Atlantic Chapter members will benefit from strong local professional networking, education, and leadership opportunities within this Digital Health Canada chapter,” said Keltie Jamieson. “Launching a regional chapter of Digital Health Canada will allow us to host and take part in more local events in and around the Atlantic provinces.”

“We are looking forward to engaging members this year through MeetUps, local certification exam sittings, professional development and volunteer opportunities, and an Atlantic Regional digital health event,” adds Gillian Sweeney. “The Chapter Advisory Committee and local volunteers will be working with Digital Health Canada staff team through June and July to finalize an Atlantic Chapter plan for the upcoming year.”

Regional chapters complement and support the Digital Health Canada member experience and bring additional value to individual professionals, public and private sector member organizations, our association, and our industry. The Atlantic Chapter will deliver value to Digital Health Canada members in the region by implementing a schedule of local services that will include:

  • A Digital Health Canada regional event featuring education sessions, panels, and speakers with local relevance and experience;
  • Health Informatics and digital health education and certification delivered in the Atlantic provinces;
  • Meetup events that highlight mentoring, networking, and volunteer leadership opportunities for local professionals; and,
  • Professional development and volunteer leadership opportunities for local professionals through Digital Health Canada “Communities of Action” and contribution to national working groups and publications.

The Atlantic Chapter Advisory Committee is currently finalizing 2018-19 calendar of events and initiating the call for volunteers. Visit digitalhealthcanada.com for event information. Atlantic Canada members will continue to be advised of all opportunities through Digital Health Canada weekly member newsletters.
