COACH: Canada’s Health Informatics Association to be known as Digital Health Canada

November 13, 2017 – TORONTO – COACH: Canada’s Health Informatics Association today announced that it will be changing its name to Digital Health Canada, effective November 30, 2017.

“This is an exciting time for our members, our partners, our organization, and the Canadian digital health industry,”said Mark Casselman, Chief Executive Officer. “We believe in the value of a broad industry network that connects professionals and organizations from diverse sectors across the country — traditional healthcare delivery, government, private industry, startups and scale-ups, innovation accelerators, and more. Our new name reflects that belief, and allows our association to broaden our reach and services to support the needs and interests of our members, as well as the growing digital health industry in Canada.”

The 43-year old association has grown from six founders to more than 2,300 digital health professional members who can choose from education, certification, networking, career development, and thought leadership programs. Over its long history, the association has developed an impressive health information technology body of knowledge that informs multiple publications and a well-respected education curriculum. In addition, the association co-hosts the annual e-Health Conference and Tradeshow, Canada’s only national digital health event (May 27-30, 2018 in Vancouver).

As outlined in the association’s 2017-2020 Strategic Plan, the association mission is to connect, inspire, and educate digital health professionals who are creating the future of health in Canada. The new name aligns with the mission and vision outlined in the plan.

“Digital Health Canada represents the work of our members and partners across traditional, emerging, and future industry segments,” said Leon Salvail, President and Board Chair. “The new name modernizes our brand and brings greater value to our members as we work to bring together converging domain areas and new groups of professionals across Canada.”
As Digital Health Canada, the association will continue to serve its diverse and growing membership community as they work to advance digital health and improve health access, experience, and outcomes for all Canadians.
