Position Summary

Interior Health is looking for a permanent full time Project Manager to join our Digital Health department team in Kelowna, B.C.

What will you work on?

The Project Manager leads projects for large corporate-wide and provincial clinical and business electronic systems and infrastructure. The Project Manager is responsible to leverage various project management methodologies (e.g. predictive, disciplined agile, scrum, lean, kanban) in maintaining a continuous cycle of project planning, execution, monitoring and reporting, as directed through the Digital Health Project Management Office. Additionally, the Project Manager oversees assigned project resources, develops project plans, and ensures the delivery and acceptance of project deliverables and end products for sign-off by the business areas.

SOME TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Engages with sponsors and stakeholders to develop essential project materials (initiation document, canvas, logic model, charter, schedules, requirements, user acceptance testing, end product specifications, go live checklist, transition to operations, etc.) on behalf of the project sponsor(s) and steering committee.
  2. Develops a comprehensive project plan with baselines ensuring input from various stakeholders and stakeholder groups, along with plans to manage change, risk, requirements, quality, business continuity, and interdependencies.
  3. Executes, monitors, controls and reports on all milestones, deliverables and activities related to the project.
  4. Prepares and manages project operational and capital budgets to a defined budget baseline, regularly communicating with portfolio finance lead on quarterly and period variances.
  5. Responsible for project staffing functions including daily assignments, recruitment, hiring, ongoing development, mentoring, performance management, and performance evaluation including disciplinary action and termination as required.
  6. Develops, implements, and monitors standards for service and performance; evaluates and effects changes as needed to improve services, simplify work flow, and assure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  7. Manages procurement activities, within the provincial procurement framework, including engagement with software/hardware vendors and other external service providers to negotiate contract terms and pricing and resolve complex and/or tentative service issues.
  8. Aligns to PMO guidance and maintain project management best practice, and demonstrates and ongoing commitment to expand personal project management competencies, while supporting the continual improvement of collective standards delivered through the PMO.
  9. Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training, and Experience:

• Professional Project Manager (PMP) designation; equivalent project management certifications such as Prince2 will be considered. Comprehensive understanding of Business Analysis, Change Model and Evaluation of benefits and value within a project context is essential.
• A minimum of five to seven years of experience in the project management of complex, multi-site, multi-disciplined information systems, including responsibility for staff development and supervision. Experience within a large and diverse healthcare organization is an asset.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Systems, or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of experience and post-secondary education.

Comments

Starting salary is approximately from 77K to 87K and will be based on education, training and experience.
