With a vision to achieve province-wide solutions for excellence in health, Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) has a unique role in BC’s health system: to ensure that BC residents have access to a coordinated provincial network of high-quality specialized health care services. The organization works in partnership with the province’s Health Authorities and health care professionals to improve access to evidence-informed practice closer to where people live and to effectively promote health, manage chronic conditions and reduce the burden of illness. In order to further PHSA’s mandate through innovation, they are seeking an inaugural Executive Vice President, Digital Information Services & Innovation.

In this transformational role, the Executive Vice President, Digital Information Services & Innovation (the EVP) will work with the PHSA Executive Team, the BC Ministry of Health and the Health Authorities leadership to establish a purpose-built digital health framework and program that provides provincial oversight, coordination and delivery of the province’s digital technology and innovation platform and systems. The EVP will look at technologies and innovations that will support an engaged, collaborative and proactive health service delivery model, as well as empower patients to manage their own wellness. The EVP will ensure alignment with the health sector’s strategic digital and information technology policy direction set by the Ministry, and enable a cohesive alignment of practices and processes. As the sector’s innovation leader, the EVP will use a patient and consumer lens to guide transformative programs and initiatives that will lead to improved health outcomes for all British Columbians.

As the ideal candidate, you are a consummate relationship builder, collaborator, influencer and change leader who is equally at ease with front line service providers, senior clinicians and major technology providers. You have deep experience in transforming a sector through the use of technology, ideally built within a health context. Experience in leading teams, specifically as it relates to the management of the IT infrastructure is desired. Demonstrated abilities in working with and leading large teams around a common vision with focused outcomes. You have a front-line consumer focus, and you use that filter when considering programs and initiatives, and introducing new technologies. In addition, you are a highly effective change leader who can initiate, manage and get buy-in for change with a large, complex and diverse constituency, including senior government leaders, senior health administrators across the province, and clinicians and service providers in a wide variety of unique geographies.

Your minimum of ten years in a senior leadership or influencing role has come ideally in a health care or equally complex, multi-stakeholder environment. You have demonstrated success spearheading, implementing and managing large scale technology transformation programs with a holistic understanding of the broad effects of the transformation throughout all aspects of an organization.
