The Position

Reporting to 3 VPs/CNEs across Ontario Shores, The Royal, and Waypoint, the Director, Mental Health Hospital Information System (HIS) Cluster (Director) will lead the collaborative partnership between all stakeholders. The incumbent will provide strategic-level leadership to the shared HIS Cluster Electronic Health Record (EHR), set strategic level directions in collaboration with executive sponsors for the HIS Cluster, cultivate strategic-level relationships with key stakeholders and vendor(s) to achieve Cluster strategies, as well as local EHR needs.

The Director will be instrumental in providing oversight for all shared projects across the 3 organizations, while leading the continued implementation of a range of Meditech Expanse modules, as per the project plan. The Director will work collaboratively with teams across all 3 organizations to standardize, maximize, and optimize the value of the clinical system in order to drive safety and quality for patients and users, and to advance the digital health strategy for the Cluster. A key part of this role will be developing strong relationships with Partners, including various internal and external stakeholders, in order to lead technology-enabled positive change during a changing health care landscape. Additionally, the Director will need to drive actionable outcomes and effectively lead the development of the integrated information management strategy amongst a multi-partner collaborative.

Key leadership initiatives for the new Director will be to:

  • Champion new and innovative applications to continue to advance the Mental Health HIS Cluster environment for multiple sites.
  • Create a common shared vision for clinical informatics and its relationship with Professional Practice.
  • Continue to build the integrated team, working closely with clinicians, providers, and/or partners to facilitate the adoption of clinical quality improvement initiatives and/or tools.
  • Collaborate with a range of stakeholders, ensuring effective engagement and the development and sustainability of collaborative partnerships.
  • Ensure efficient project management principles and practices and IT governance structures are in place to manage ongoing projects, on time and within budget.


The successful candidate will have at least 5 to 7 years of senior level strategic and operational and Clinical Informatics leadership experience operating in health care and/or a similarly complex environment/sector. This role requires someone that has a demonstrated track record in successful, large-scale information technology system implementation (preferably in health care), project governance, organizational change management, team building, and coordinated execution. Further, the candidate will embody excellence in customer service, collaboration, commitment to high quality communications and be highly effective at stakeholder engagement. Resilient and decisive, the successful candidate will possess exceptional business acumen, change management skills, and strategic capabilities to provide guidance through challenging clinical technology transformations.
