Job Title: Chief Executive Officer
OntarioMD (OMD) supports community-based clinician practices in the selection, implementation, adoption and optimization of electronic medical records (EMRs) and other digital health and virtual care tools. Over 20,000 physicians and more than 1,500 nurse practitioners are enrolled in its programs. OMD is a subsidiary of the Ontario Medical Association, primarily but not exclusively funded by Ontario Health.
The Board of Directors of OntarioMD seeks to recruit a new Chief Executive Officer to assume a pivotal role in driving and advancing the mandate and strategy of the organization and delivering on the objective of supporting and enhancing physicians/clinicians and their practices in their participation and use of digital health assets and tools. This is an excellent opportunity to play a strategic role with an organization that has a unique platform to participate in system transformation through the development and implementation of digital solutions that create value to physicians/clinicians and ultimately patients, and impact the health system in Ontario. The opportunities for OntarioMD are endless – from additional value-creation opportunities for Ontario’s physicians/clinicians, such as practice management, to additional system capabilities in the area of digital transfer and privacy, as well as opportunities to expand OntarioMD’s service offerings to other provinces.
The new Chief Executive Officer will be an accomplished and strategic leader with health care and/or technology experience, coupled with experience in successfully developing and executing growth strategies, creating new revenue streams and building new business lines. The CEO will possess an advanced degree or equivalent (e.g., Masters Degree in Health Care Administration or Business) with a minimum of 10 years of demonstrated senior leadership experience. They will have proven success in building effective partnerships and alliances with senior leaders in Ontario’s health system, with the board of directors, management and staff. Knowledge of primary care and physician practice management would be an asset. The CEO will have strong knowledge and experience in governance and strategy; and a record of successful development and implementation of long term and strategic plans. They will have the ability to thrive in complex multi-stakeholder environments, be skilled in navigating political landscapes while managing intersecting and competing priorities. Exposure to parent/subsidiary environments would be an asset. Most importantly, the new Chief Executive Officer will bring their passion to make a difference and drive system level change to healthcare in Ontario and beyond.
