The digital health sector is attracting growing interest. It is a major stake at Université de Montréal and, within it, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is called upon to play a prominent role.
Montreal has a powerful scientific network in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) thanks to the largest university community in deep learning in the world within Mila, the Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute.Three units are active within the Université de Montréal, the world hub of AI: Mila, IVADO and the Digital Health Consortium, which brings together the various faculties, institutions and research centers affiliated with Université de Montréal, and inspires the innovation and the effervescence of AI for the benefit of all. Université de Montréal also trains future AI specialists through educational programs at all levels and through continuing education.
Université de Montréal‘s Innovation Laboratory aims to stimulate major unifying interdisciplinary projects in response to challenges facing today’s society. Among its 4 major themes is “from data to action in health”. This project, in conjunction with the Institute for Data Valorization (IVADO) and the Digital Health Consortium, aims to apply data in the field of health. This recruitment is par of the intiative aiming to refine diagnosic procedures, prognostication and improvement of patient care.
The Faculty of Dental Medicine, Université de Montréal, in partnership with the CIUSSS du Nord-de-l’Île-de-Montréal (CIUSSS-NÎM) Research Center, is looking for a professor at the rank of assistant/associate with expertise in AI for applications to medical situations in the craniofacial sphere. The person recruited will hold a philanthropic Research Chair funded by the Hôpital du Sacré-Coeur-de-Montréal Foundation. The position leads to tenure.
The recruited person will have the opportunity to develop collaborative projects with researchers and clinical science professors from the Faculty of Dental Medicine, the CIUSSS-NÎM Research Center and other partner organizations, including the CHUM, the CHU Sainte-Justine, Mila and IVADO, in order to develop a common vision regarding the application of AI in healthcare. They will be equipped with all the infrastructure, material and technological needs, and the required supervision to update their career.
As a professor, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the excellence of the Department of Stomatology, Faculty of Dental Medicine… …through your teaching and your research activities. You will also ensure the visibility of your discipline in addition to actively participate in the operation of a renowned institution. As such, you will:
- Contribute to the 4 aspects of academic life: teaching at all cycles and research, as well as the functioning of the institution and the university’s influence;
- Develop an independent and innovative research program of international scope in the application of AI in health.
To succeed in your role, you’ll need:
- A Doctorate (PhD.) or equivalent degree in a relevant field;
- Recognized experience in the field of AI with medical applications;
- An adequate knowledge of the French written and spoken language or a strong commitment to mastering the proficiency level required, in accordance to Université de Montréal’s Language Policy. An institutional learning support program is offered to all professors wishing to learn French or improve their communication skills.
