Chris Olson is the Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for Civica Canada. He has over 17 years of experience serving the healthcare industry with software solutions that are developed to improve the quality of patient care. He has specialized and focused much of his time on the deployment of RTLS solutions across North America within Senior Care and Acute Care hospitals, allowing the industry to fully embrace emerging technologies to support their digital journey and “smart” and integrated hospitals. His experience allows him to share best practices in place today, as well as share an insight into the future of long-term care technology.
How long have you been a member of Digital Health Canada?
I am a brand new member of Digital Health Canada, and eager to kick off my membership by adding value to the group. I aim to bring fresh perspectives, industry knowledge, and opportunities to engage with the membership base to encourage the digital transformation of health organizations in Canada.
Why do you want to join the Digital Health Canada Board of Directors at this point in your career?
I have spent over 17 years in the healthcare software industry, helping our customers deploy software solutions to improve their healthcare delivery network. I have seen first-hand how digital and software solutions can transform the patient care journey. I would like to join Digital Health Canada’s Board to share customer experiences, learn from others, and collectively ensure that Canada is a leader in the digital transformation journey.
How does your experience align with the Digital Health Canada strategic plan and mandate?
My experience in the healthcare IT industry has afforded me many tangible examples of how digital solutions can transform patient care delivery. I have been personally responsible for launching brand-new software and technologies into the healthcare industry that are patient-centric and aimed at driving efficiencies in the healthcare delivery process. I am eager to join Digital Health Canada’s mission to connect, inspire and empower digital health professionals across the Country. It is my personal belief that technology and digital solutions in healthcare, when utilized correctly, are instrumental in the long-term sustainability of our populations. I am extremely eager to learn how other organizations have adopted various solutions on their individual and collective journeys, as well as share the experiences that I have as a result of my customer’s journeys.
What unique skills, perspectives and contributions would you bring to the Digital Health Canada Board?
I have spent my career meeting with healthcare customers to understand and define their software and digital deployment roadmap. I have seen first-hand how the implementation of digital solutions can have a direct impact on the patient care experience, delivering better care outcomes, and safety, or reducing inefficiencies in the care delivery process. I have helped pioneer revolutionary technologies such as RFID and Real-Time Location Systems (RTLS), seeing first-hand how our solutions have allowed the vision of the “smart hospital” to become a reality.

No, I do not have any direct patient care (clinical) experience.

I have not had the privilege of contributing to the Digital Health community. As a new member, I am eager and excited to join the organization with enthusiasm and fresh perspectives.
What other board appointments or relevant leadership experiences have you had in the past five years?
I have been a Manager and Executive Leader within my organization for over 5 years.
Please tell us why you feel Digital Health Canada members should vote for you.
I would like members to vote for me as I believe that I will add to the new and fresh ideas that are collectively shared by the Board of Directors and the existing membership community daily. My experience in Healthcare IT spans across all of North America, so I have the opportunity to share the voices of customers from all walks of the healthcare continuum – from individual facilities to large IDN’s.
