The Master of Health Informatics (MHI) Program is a professional degree at the University of Toronto, St. George (UTSG). As one of Canada’s few graduate programs in the rapidly evolving field of health informatics, MHI leads the way in transforming students into professionals ready to manage the intersections of people, processes and information technology in healthcare.
Offered by the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME) in partnership with the Faculty of Information (iSchool), MHI’s full-time 16-month multidisciplinary curriculum combines clinical expertise with applied knowledge in information and communications technologies. Faculty prepare students to analyze, manage, implement, and evaluate the integration of technologies into real-world health systems.
Students participate in a four-month (with potential extension into the Fall term) practicum placement. The placement provides experiential learning under the mentorship of leading health informaticians within government, health service provider organizations and the private sector.
Our graduates emerge as health informatics professionals who become leaders in strategy, project and change management, clinical informatics, system-wide analytics, and solution architecture.
