September 17, 2021 – Canadian Technology Accelerator – Are you ready to grow your digital health company to Europe’s largest healthcare market?
Germany spends more than 570 billion Canadian dollars each year on healthcare and recently introduced a regulatory fast track to get “prescribable applications” (Digitale Gesundheitsanwendungen, or DiGA) reimbursed by the statutory health insurance covering almost 90% of the German population. DiGA typically target specific conditions such as diabetes or depression, and include standard software, Software as a Service (SaaS), and mobile as well as browser-based apps.
The upcoming Canadian Technology Accelerator (CTA) program builds on this fast track and partnered up with fbeta – a specialized advisory firm that helped design the fast-track – to support Canadian companies seeking reimbursement of digital therapeutics in Germany.
This CTA program is for Canadian companies that want to:
- benefit from this new regulatory framework for digital health in Germany
- fulfill the requirements indicated in the Fast-Track Process for Digital Health Applications (DiGAs) guide for manufacturers, service providers and users
- get their solutions listed in the new digital health registry of Germany’s statutory health insurance
This CTA program can help you gain important knowledge and connections to grow in this highly promising market. The program offers great value to CTA participants, is free of charge, and is fully virtual (for now). The program will offer customized virtual support from November 2021 to April 2022 for about three hours per week. CTA will establish tailored priorities at the beginning of the program to develop your business strategy as well as advance your market entry, investment, and customer acquisition objectives.
Graduates of this CTA will gain: a deeper understanding of the commercial opportunities for your technology in the market; guidance on entering and navigating the German market; and enhanced network development with relationships built to last outside of the program.
Why this is a great opportunity for eligible Digital Health Canada member organizations
This spring, Digital Health Canada collaborated with London & Partners on UK/Canada Digital Health Virtual Trade Mission and Business France on NEXT French Healthcare 2021 acceleration program for digital health & medtech. Currently, Digital Health Canada is acting with CTA to match high-potential startup and scale-up Canadian technology companies with the CTA Digital Health Program in Germany. Our activities will focus on increasing the visibility of companies participating in the CTA and – more broadly – of Canadian technologic capabilities in the German/European market.
Acting on one of the stated priorities in Digital Health Canada’s Strategy 2023 (“Bring Canada to the world, and the world to Canada”), Digital Health Canada works on your behalf as a Canadian digital health ecosystem partner for international trade organizations – accelerating efforts to support international companies’ expansion to Canada, share knowledge of Canadian markets, and make connections with potential business partners in Canada.
- Any members interested in participating can do so by applying here until October 8, 2021 at 11:59 pm (PT). Remember, focus is on digital therapeutics*
