Winning a Canadian Health Informatics Award (CHIA) is proof of excellence, leadership, and innovation

CHIAs are sponsored by Digital Health Canada and ITAC Health and are presented at the annual CHIA Awards Gala at e-Health. The next CHIA Awards Gala will take place on Monday, June 1 at e-Health 2020 Conference and Tradeshow (Vancouver) May 31-June 3, 2020.

Digital Health Executive of the Year

Purpose: Recognizes an individual Executive whose outstanding contributions as a leader, have helped advance Digital Health or Virtual Health in Canada

Eligibility: This award is open to anyone in the digital health or virtual health community in Canada. NOTE: Past winners of the Leadership in the Field of HI Award and current members of the Digital Health Canada Board of Directors and Awards Adjudication Committee are ineligible for this award.

Leadership in Digital Health

Purpose: Recognizes an individual’s outstanding ongoing contributions as a thought leader to advance Digital Health or Virtual Health in Canada.

Eligibility: This award is open to anyone in the digital health or virtual health community in Canada. NOTE: Past winners of the Leadership in the Field of HI Award and current members of the Digital Health Canada Board of Directors and Awards Adjudication Committee are ineligible for this award.

Clinical Innovator

Purpose: Recognizes a clinical innovator who has shown outstanding leadership in Canada in advancing the use of Digital Health or Virtual Health in clinical practice resulting in improved provider and patient experiences and outcomes.

Eligibility: Open to practicing clinician leaders at local, regional and/or national levels in Canada.

Community Care Leader

Purpose: Recognizes a Community Care Leader who has shown outstanding leadership in Canada in advancing the use of Digital Health or Virtual Health resulting in improved provider and patient experiences and outcomes.

Eligibility: Open to all community care leaders working at local, regional and/or national levels in Canada.

Emerging Leader

Purpose: Recognizes individuals who are in the first five years of their Digital Health or Virtual Health career and have clearly demonstrated leadership and achieved early success

Eligibility: This award is open to anyone in the digital health/virtual health community in Canada who has less than five years of HI work experience and has not held a leadership (director level and above) position in another industry.

Steven Huesing Scholarship

Purpose: The Steven Huesing Scholarship was established in 1999 in recognition of the contribution that the late Steven Huesing, COACH Founding President, made to the association. The scholarship was developed to reflect the spirit, dedication and innovation that the Founding President brought to the field of health informatics.

Eligibility: Scholarship applications are accepted from any student currently enrolled in a health informatics, digital health/virtual health or related program at an accredited post-secondary institution.

Project Implementation Team of the Year

Purpose: To recognize a for-profit healthcare ICT Company and client team that has successfully implemented a health-IT solution at a healthcare organization and honours the private and public sector team effort.

Eligibility: Nominations will be accepted from a Canadian client and healthcare ICT company team that have fully implemented a health IT solution within the past twelve months.

Patient Care Innovation

Purpose: To recognize a for-profit healthcare ICT company and client team that has successfully implemented a health-IT solution that has positively impacted on patient care in innovative ways and honours the private and public sector team effort.

Eligibility: Nominations will be accepted from a Canadian client and healthcare ICT company team that have fully implemented a health IT solution within the past twelve months.

Innovation in Care Delivery

Purpose: To recognize a for-profit healthcare ICT company and client team that has successfully implemented a new, innovative health-IT solution and honours the private and public sector team effort.

Eligibility: Nominations will be accepted from a Canadian client and healthcare ICT company team that have fully implemented a health IT solution within the past twelve months.

Corporate Citizenship

Purpose: To recognize leading for-profit healthcare ICT companies – Small to Medium Enterprises, Major Canadian Companies, Multi-Nationals – or individual entities that are committed to and passionate about health informatics (HI) and have heavily invested in contributing to the industry in Canada. This annual award provides client organizations and business partners the opportunity to nominate private sector companies who they feel have demonstrated a very high level of commitment to HI in the past 12 months.

Eligibility: Nominations must be forthcoming from clients, business partners, associations, educational institutions and standards organizations and will be accepted for companies with any number of years-experience. Eligible companies must have a Canadian presence and a practice partially or entirely dedicated to health-IT.
