Andrew is a seasoned leader in healthcare IT and digital health, with extensive experience spanning clinical practice, informatics, and executive leadership. As a Registered Nurse with a Master’s in Health Informatics, he has successfully led large-scale healthcare IT transformations, leveraging technology to improve patient care and system efficiencies.

Currently serving as Sales Director for Canada at Interlace Health, Andrew works to address document management, e-consents, and downtime challenges within Canadian healthcare. Previously, as Director of Client Relationships at Oracle Cerner Canada, he managed key client partnerships across Atlantic Canada, delivering innovative digital health solutions. His tenure as Chief Nursing Informatics Officer and Chief Information Officer at Nova Scotia Health Authority saw him drive clinical documentation standards, lead large-scale system implementations, and develop strategic IT roadmaps to enhance healthcare delivery.

Andrew’s expertise lies in change management, stakeholder engagement, and the integration of technology to streamline clinical workflows. He has played pivotal roles in multiple healthcare IT projects, including EMR implementations, workflow optimization, and interoperability initiatives. A recognized leader in health informatics, he has been actively involved with organizations like HIMSS and Digital Health Canada.

Why do you want to join the Digital Health Canada Board of Directors at this point in your career?
I’m looking to join the Digital Health Canada Board of Directors as I have gained a tremendous amount of experience across the country working both in the private and public sectors along with firsthand, bedside, clinical expertise. All of this comibned allows me to provide some unique insights into the challenges and benefits of Health IT as it relates to patients and clinicians.
How does your experience align with the Digital Health Canada strategic plan and mandate?

My experience in digital health leadership aligns closely with the goals outlined in Digital Health Canada’s Strategy 2026. Throughout my career, I have been committed to driving digital transformation, fostering collaboration, and implementing innovative healthcare solutions that empower professionals and improve patient care.

As a former Chief Information Officer at Nova Scotia Health Authority and a senior leader at Oracle Cerner Canada, I have led large-scale system implementations, optimized health IT platforms, and built strategic partnerships—all in support of connecting, inspiring, and equipping healthcare professionals with the tools they need to succeed. My expertise in change management and stakeholder engagement has allowed me to develop solutions that enhance healthcare delivery while ensuring alignment with industry needs.

I am also deeply committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in digital health. Through leadership roles in national health IT organizations and advisory committees, I have worked to create more inclusive, accessible, and representative digital health solutions.

By continuing to champion innovation, strategic partnerships, and equitable access to digital healthcare, I remain dedicated to supporting the vision of Digital Health Canada—ensuring a digitally connected and accessible healthcare system for all.

What unique skills, perspectives and contributions would you bring to the Digital Health Canada Board?

As an RN originally I bring the perspective of a front-line clinician to the board. Layered on top of that are a number of years of senior leadership roles across healthcare IT and experience gained in the private sector as a vendor developing solutions for some of today’s most pressing healthcare issues.

I also bring many years of board experience both in the healthcare IT sector and outside of it. I have been on the board of a Family Health team in Ontario, the College of Paramedics in Nova Scotia and previously sat on the CHIEF Advisory Council. I’m currently the Treasurer for my local Fire Department and currently sit on the HIMSS Eastern Canada board.

All of the combined experience will be invaluable to the Digital Health Canada Board.

With which Digital Health Canada committees, task groups or activities have you volunteered in past five years?

I previously sat on the CHIEF Advisory Committee and was part of the eHealth review committee for 2 years.

While with Nova Scotia Health I encouraged my entire IT team to work towards taking they CPHIMS-CA certification as I believe in the value it provides and the dedication that it shows those members have to the profession and the work that they do day in and day out.

What other board appointments or relevant leadership experiences have you had in the past five years?

I currently sit as a board member with HIMSS Eastern Canada Chapter and am the Treasurer for the La Have and District Fire Department in Nova Scotia.

Previously I served on the CHIEF Advisory Committee, was a board member with the College of Paramedics of Nova Scotia, was a board member with the Canadian College of Health Leaders Bluenose Chapter (Nova Scotia & PEI), and was a board member with the Thames Valley Family Team in London, Ontario. I also served on the Disciplinary Committee of the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Why do you feel Digital Health Canada members should vote for you?

I believe Digital Health Canada members should vote for me given my extensive healthcare and healthcare IT experience as well as my knowledge of board policies and procedures. The board’s responsibility is to supervise the CEO of Digital Health Canada and hold them accountable to the membership and ensure they are working towards the goals outlined in the Digital Health Canada strategy.

My combined knowledge and experience in both these areas will allow me to ensure the board is functioning properly in it’s role and that we are advocating on behalf of the membership and ensuring that programs and events are as effective and useful as possible for the membership.

Educational background
I have a Bachelor in Nursing Science from the University of Western Ontario (Western University ) and Masters of Health Informatics from the University of Victoria. I’m currently a licensed RN in Nova Scotia and Ontario.
